Read More Dedication of Krapf Gateway Center The Krapf Gateway Center, the catalyst of The Campaign for a Greater Lycoming, Lycoming College's most ambitious fundraising initiative in its history, was dedicated on October 25, 2019. The Krapf Gateway Center serves as home to the Office of Admissions, College Advancement, the Center for Enhanced Academic Experiences, and the Outdoor Leadership and Education program. The 28,000-square-foot building also includes study and seminar rooms, a large presentation space, a café, and a three-story rock-climbing wall. Maryam Haytham Esmat '21, an international student from Cairo, Egypt, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in astrophysics with a mathematics minor, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing with a fiction track. The highlight of my Lycoming education so far has been my research at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI). I grew up learning about space through STScI's public outreach articles online; through them I learned about the James Webb Space Telescope — which has been my favorite telescope since I was fifteen. Today, I get to be one of the people working on it at its very own headquarters. Helping scientists use the telescope's instruments to 'look back in time' to observe our universe as it was 13.5 billion years ago and observing planets outside of our solar system is all very wonderous! I am grateful for the endless opportunities available at Lycoming. Your contributions to Lycoming support students like me and make a great difference in our Lycoming journey and future. Planning for New Music Building Underway During the winter board retreat in January of 2019, the trustees of Lycoming College toured campus to evaluate the institution’s facilities and identify priorities for capital improvements and renovations. The results of that evaluation have already resulted in significant renovations to two wings of the Academic Center and plans to renovate the Heim Science Building over the next several years.
